In the world of home décor, few things make a statement more simply or elegantly than a well-designed faux botanical. Taking beautiful natural shapes and elevating them into the world of design takes skill, experience and a sharp eye. After more than 15 years manufacturing handmade high-end florals, Atlanta-based Artistry in Silk has earned a reputation for offering all three of these important qualities, and for consistently delivering a distinctive look and top notch service. The company’s signature floral pieces, which integrate architectural elements and high quality silk stems with often unexpected pieces like dried elements, feathers and fruit, have been selected by decorators for use in homes and showrooms nationwide.

Given their growth and success, it’s hard to believe Artistry in Silk began in the most humble style – in the basement of owner and President Kris Nolan’s home. After honing her craft in various home shows and classrooms, Nolan decided to bring her floral designs to a larger market.

In 1987, she began courting local stores for the opportunity to showcase her work. After just a few years in the business, Nolan’s talent for design helped her land nationally-known furniture seller Roberd’s as a personal client. Her arrangements appeared in Roberd’s stores throughout the Atlanta area, and she was chosen to create specialty arrangements for Roberd’s grand opening in Cincinnati, Ohio. In the early 1990s, her faux botanicals also took center stage at Thomasville Furniture stores throughout Atlanta, including a grand opening in Buckhead, a hotspot in Atlanta’s dining and entertainment scene. Her relationship with Roberd’s and Weinberger’s encouraged Nolan to expand her already growing business into markets well outside her home base.

In 2004, her client list included stores up to 300 miles out of Atlanta, and the company moved into a large warehouse space to accommodate the demand. After growing by nearly 60% in a single year, the company moved again in 2005 to their present warehouse location. The added work and extra space brought more exciting changes to the company, along with putting the finishing touch on the Furniture Classics Showroom. With this alliance, Artistry in Silk’s designs can be seen in the Furniture Classics Showroom in Atlanta and the Showplace Building at the High Point market. The addition of a new shipping department that same year allowed the company to ship their pieces to clients nationwide.

Artistry in Silk is a custom manufacturer of high-end faux botanicals, wall planters, trees, and floor plants based out of Atlanta, Georgia. All of their arrangements are designed and hand assembled in the USA. Artistry in Silk is proud to announce that its work was featured in the Lighting Insert of the Spring 2006 Horchow Catalog, an upscale home furnishings catalog that is part of the Neiman Marcus family. The company’s work was also seen in the September/October 2006 issue of Coastal Carolina HomeStyles edition and the February 2007 edition of Home Décor.
